The scientific name of this natural drug is Boswellia serrata Roxb.
The oleoresin gum from B. Serrata has traditionally been used for its anti-inflammatory effects in conditions such as asthma, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, colitis, and irritable bowel syndrome. Boswellic acids have demonstrated immunomodulatory, antiproliferative, cytotoxic, and antimicrobial effects. Unfortunately, there are only experiments on mice, therefore support for human medicine uses is not officially recommended.
